Chi Ali (born Chi-Ali Griffith) is a rapper and actor from the Bronx, New York. He gained recognition in the early 1990s as part of the Native Tongues hip hop collective, which included groups such as A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, and Queen Latifah. Chi Ali released his debut album, "The Fabulous Chi-Ali," in 1992, which received critical acclaim for its lyrical creativity and storytelling. However, his promising career was cut short in 1999 when he was convicted of second-degree murder and sentenced to 12 years in prison. Chi Ali was released in 2012 and has since worked to rebuild his career and reputation, releasing new music and making appearances on shows such as "VH1's Love & Hip Hop: New York."
